Wuhan, the once hardest-hit city in central China’s Hubei Province during the COVID-19 outbreak, resumed a total of 117 bus routes starting Wednesday, around 30 percent of the city’s total bus transport capacity, the municipal transport bureau said.
No new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were reported Tuesday in Wuhan.
This is the map of remaining COVID-19 cases in China as of March 25, 16:30 hours.
China has put the epidemic under control, but how did China succeed?
First, China imposed a lockdown in Wuhan in an early time to prevent more cases flowing to other provinces. On Jan. 23, Wuhan declared unprecedented traffic restrictions, including suspending the city’s public transport and all outbound flights and trains, in an attempt to contain the epidemic within its territory. Similar restrictions were soon introduced in other areas in Hubei. It was a very strong measure but it proved to be very effective.
Second，China put people’s lives before the economic development. China started to lift the restrictions until the epidemic was totally under control. The novel corona virus epidemic has exerted a huge impact on China’s economy. The first quarter should have been the peak season of consumption with the highest contribution rate to GDP growth, but the epidemic has severely suppressed consumption.
Third, China is transparent in sharing the data with her people. The Chinese authority not only shared the case numbers but also detailed the information of the infected people, like where he is from, which places he has been to, which flight or train he has taken, and who he had contacted with and even the address of this person. This was aimed to help healthy people to make precaution with this information.
Forth, China has allocated all the resources to support the city of Wuhan and the province of Hubei. Thousands of health personals have been sent to Hubei People from other provinces. People across the country donated large amount of medical supplies and food to Hubei.
Fifth, almost all Chinese people participated in the fight against the corona virus. Throughout February, more than 1 billion Chinese people stayed indoors. Almost everyone who had to go outside wore a mask.
