The situation in China is getting better now. 13 new cases, 11 new deaths (all in Hubei), and 922 new discharges occurred in China on March 17, as reported by the National Health Commission (NHC) of China.
Imported cases are now the problem China facing.
Of the 13 new cases, 12 of them are imported cases. The Chinese mainland reported 12 newly imported cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on March 17, bringing the total number of imported cases to 155, according to the National Health Commission.
As things are turning better domestically, China has started to send medical experts, test kits and masks to many severely hit countries.
A team of 12 medical experts from east China’s Zhejiang Province was sent to Italy Tuesday by the Chinese government to aid the anti-coronavirus fight on the Apennine Peninsula.
A shipment consisting of 500,000 medical masks donated by the Jack Ma Foundation and the Alibaba Foundation, arrived in northern Spain’s Zaragoza on Tuesday.
On Wednesday China has decided to donate 100,000 more test kits and other urgently-needed medical supplies to the Philippines to help the southeast Asian country fight COVID-19 spread. China donated 2,000 test kits to the Philippines on Monday.
China also sent test kits to some other countries, like Pakistan, Iran, Japan and so on.
On Tuesday, U.S. President Donald Trump in his twitter called the novel coronavirus “Chinese virus”. His words were very irresponsible and childish.
First, even though the epidemic was first reported in China, it didn’t necessarily originate there.
Second, Trump did this because he wanted to blame his mistake on China. At first, U.S. government did not put strong measures to prevent the spread of the virus. Many American people cannot get tested because there are not enough test kits. Some Chinese living in the U.S. returned to China because they couldn’t get tested and treated.
Third. It will spark racism in the U.S. or even across the world against Chinese people by calling the virus “Chinese virus”. How can a type of a virus has nationality? People from different countries, including China, are all suffering from the virus. China is the biggest victim in the world with the highest death toll. Chinese medical workers, in particular, are devoted to the fighting of the epidemic on the front lines, some even sacrificed their own lives.
During its fight against the virus, China transparently shared the information with its people. China shared the details of the flights and trains, which confirmed cases have taken place so that people can make some precautions.
In the end, I want to tell dear Turkish friends. Stay at home and if you go out, wear masks. The two are effective ways to protect yourselves from the virus. I hope Turkey will get over the outbreak as soon as possible.
